Surf’s up Mahia

more surf

As good kiwis we had to celebrate the queens birthday even though her actual birthday is on a completely different day. Anyhow, we took advantage of the long weekend to go surfing and drove up to Mahia, a litte peninsula right at the top end of the mighty Hawks Bay.

The Mahia peninsula is a beautiful small place, quite off the beaten track in NZ. It has nice sand beaches on almost all sides of the peninsula with good waves for pros noobs like us. We stayed with a few friends in a nice house in a tiny town called Mahanga Beach, just down the road from the beach as the name suggests. The wether was stunning and felt more like a spring day than the middle of NZ winter. All in all a perfect weekend. Check out the few pictures I took below.
